Backyard Crops
Here are a few ways that you as a homeowner can support GleanSLO’s efforts to rescue fruits and vegetables that would otherwise go to waste.
1. Harvest and Donate
If you have less than 100 pounds of produce from 1- 2 trees in your yard and can manage harvesting the crop yourself, we would love your donation! Feel free to call or email us to find the nearest distribution center or stop by one of our two Food Bank warehouse locations to drop off your donation. Please tell them that the donation is for GleanSLO.
Address: 2212 Golden Hill Road, Paso Robles, CA 93446
Hours of Operation: 8 am- 4 pm

Oceano Warehouse
Address: 1820 Railroad Street, Oceano, CA 93445
Hours of Operation: 8 am- 3 pm
Telephone: (805) 481-4652
If you can email us so we can alert the staff at either warehouse that you are dropping off a donation, that is much appreciated.
All donations are tax deductible. Be sure to ask for a tax receipt for your records.
2. Register your crop with GleanSLO
We typically have a high demand for smaller, neighborhood gleans. We give priority to backyard growers with at least 200 lbs of fruits or vegetables available and to those who are physically unable to harvest their own trees. After registering your crop online, a GleanSLO coordinator will contact you by email or phone within 72 hours to discuss the next steps: coming to your property to scout the fruit trees or crops, figuring out how many volunteers are needed, and scheduling a glean date and time.
Please note, we are not able to guarantee that we can harvest at every home nor can we guarantee the scheduling. Thank you for your understanding.
3. Host a Harvest Party
If you are unable to harvest your own bounty, hosting a Harvest Party is the perfect way to get your neighborhood involved to help out the whole community! Invite your relatives, the neighborhood youth and families, church members, or your gardener friends to come help you pick your produce to be donated.
